Palestinian and Israeli software professionals will come together to work in a professional but casual and fun environment get to know each other while also obtaining new skills and experiences and maybe new ideas for startups. This 1st hachathon will focus on building cool innovative apps around the emerging concept of "Reality Programming" ***.
During the weekend participants will have the chance to propose ideas for useful apps to be built, build teams around the selected ideas, and actually work on design and implementation. At the end of the second day the winning team will be selected and awarded with a special prize.
This is a great opportunity to learn a new "hot" technology hands-on, meet new like-minded people in a friendly non-political environment and find opportunities for ongoing partnerships. Israelis will be able to get to know the emerging Palestinian IT sector and the opportunities it brings, while Palestinians will get access to the vast technological and entrepreneurial experience of Israeli engineers. Of course teams are encouraged to continue their work after the event and possibly make it into a successful business!
The event will be moderated by Zvi Schreiber ^^^, founder of G.ho.st, the first Palestinian-Israeli startup.
NOTE: This event is purely about technology and a unique opportunity to learn, discover and create tech awareness on both sides. This is a non-political event.

*** What is Reality Programming?
There is an unprecedented wealth of information online for human beings but most computer programs are still built on proprietary databases which contain narrow non-standard data. But in the meantime the vision of a 'semantic' machine-readable web is starting to come to fruition with efforts such as Google Freebase. Now a new style of programming can emerge, taking advantage of broad standard live real-world data (people, places and things). You could call it Reality Programming.
